What is Auto Detailing?
Auto detailing makes an automobile look its best. It is the total cleaning of the entire car, inside and out, top to bottom. The entire car is treated so that it looks good and lasts longer. Detailing involves the little things. The little details. Nearly all cars have blemishes or defects that prevent them from looking their best. A car looks best when every inch is clean and has the right shine. If neglected, the little things turn into major eyesores. With the rising cost of automobiles, auto detailing is no longer a luxury service. A well maintained car lasts longer than a neglected one. Dirt is the enemy, whether it is in an engine's oil, on the painted surfaces, or on the fabric's interior every part can be ruined by dirt. Auto detailing protects your investment and increases the value of your automobile. A car that looks good will sell faster and for more money than one that is dirty. What are your recommended services and preventative maintenance services?
A car is your statement. Therefore, a car is a very important part of your life. There are so many steps and precautions that must be taken to maintain the beauty and value of your vehicle. We place special emphasis on preventative maintenance. Cold weather brings additional enemies to a car's finish. Rock salt, sand and gravel are spread on the roads to make them driveable. These aids wear the car's exterior. Your car takes more physical abuse from the elements during cold weather months than any other time of the year. When moisture penetrates a scratch in the paint, it freezes and thaws. Contracts and expands. These cycles affect the surrounding of the paint, causing it to weaken and eventually crack. All year long, particularly in the summer, acid rain dissolves and eats through paint and metals and etches glass. The longer acid rain is allowed to sit on paint, the more damage is done. The worst thing that can happen to the exterior of a car is RUST! Repairing rust is time consuming and expensive. Regular waxing helps prevent deterioration from the corrosive effects of acid rain and air pollutants.
The interior of a car needs to be protected and cleaned. Dirt causes vinyl, plastic, rubber, and leather to crack. Dirt sitting on a dash, for example, pulls moisture out of the vinyl. Once the vinyl is dry, it more than likely will crack. Vinyl and leather seats need to be cleaned and conditioned. The heat from the sun can cause cracked dashes, faded upholstery, and dried out leather.
We recommend a scheduled maintenance
program for our customers. This consists of one complete detail every three
to four months or once every six months (depending on the condition of
your vehicle), followed by full service washes. Once a car is completely
detailed, periodic cleaning and treatment maintains that appearance.
Detailing should never take that much time after the initial session. Proper
maintenance will make your vehicle maintain its original looks, even if
it's ten or more years old.
What services do you offer?
Our services range from hand waxing the exterior to a complete detailing job. Complete detailing involves cleaning and treating the entire car and removing an unsightly spots. The correct treatment will protect the surface it's applied to and will help maintain the clean appearance of the surfaces.
Full Service Wash- Beginning with the cleaning of your rims, tires and wheel walls, we give your car a thorough exterior wash, including all the hidden areas- the wheel well lips and those tough to reach spots "way down low".
Engine Detailing- We completely degrease the entire engine compartment including all hoses, wires, engine components, and the underside of the hood.
Exterior Detailing- We always begin each detail by cleaning your wheel walls, tires, and rims. If your vehicle has serious problems, such as oxidation, paint over spray, acid rain/pollution, or other damage, we diagnose and treat them at a reasonable added cost. Once your car is polished to perfection, we apply one of the most important steps of all, a sealer between the steps of the polishing and the wax. We finish the detail by removing the wax and polish from cracks and crevices, spotlessly cleaning the windows inside and out, and dressing all exterior, rubber and vinyl.
Interior Detailing- When detailing your interior, we clean the carpet, the seats, under and between, the seat belts, the floor mats, dash and instruments, steering wheel, ash tray, door panels, and anything else you can think of.

Robert Anthony Melvin, owner
and founder, has eight years of experience in auto detailing. He is a professional
and certified auto detailer. Melvin's Mobile Auto Detailing Services specializes
in quality service and customer satisfaction. Our truck is equipped with
a water tank and the most recent state of the art equipment, supplies,
and products. All products used are environmentally safe and biodegradable.
We provide services for Montgomery, Frederick, Prince Georges Counties,
Northern Virginia, and Washington, D.C. And yes, WE COME TO YOU!!!
Do I need an appointment?
Yes. To ensure proper
time is devoted to your vehicle, we have a limited number of openings each
day.
What happens if the weather is bad that day?
We will give you a call in
the morning and we will reschedule your appointment. Although harsh
weather conditions sometimes stop or slow our progress, we always try to
complete the job.
How long does it take to detail my car?
We schedule morning and afternoon appointments depending on the services that are requested, and the type of vehicle. Obviously, it will take more time to do a big truck than a small car, so we have to allot more time for the larger vehicles. On the average, it takes approximately 2-1/2 to 3 hours for a complete detail, and we schedule complete details at 9:00 AM, 1:00 PM, and 4:00 PM.
